World History 750 B.C. - 1600 A.D. - Grade 7

The Dayton Regional STEM School opened Fall 2009 with the first class of 9th graders. In Fall 2011 the school will have grades 7-11. Focusing on science, technology, engineering and math, the new public school has an integrated curriculum and uses problem solving in real life settings. Wright State University partnered with other local colleges, area high tech companies and Wright Patterson Air Force Base to win the state grant which funded the school's start-up. DRSS does not use academic achievement or aptitude as a part of the selection process. Students of all ability levels are eligible to attend.

Wright State University library media graduate students in EDT763, Young Adult Literature, are making suggestions of book titles that correlate to the Ohio 7th grade social studies curriculum. We believe that reading quality historical fiction and information books can engage student interest in history and lead to deeper learning.
